Buck's ASAP Technology "assisted-opening" knives are functionally different from automatic knives (switchblade type) that typically use gravity or a handle button/lever to release the blade from a closed position. Buck's 2-stage operation (safety & blade release lever) is designed for user safety and does not use a handle button/lever. However, users are responsible for investigating laws applicable to assisted-opening knives in their jurisdiction.
